The Echo is known for featuring really excellent artists on their monthly residency calendar, but all too often, a month will come and go and I will realize that I never made it out to see the current artist. Luckily, this was not the case in February. I caught Kan Wakan's final residency show at the Echo and I am certainly glad I did. Their sound is a lush blend of experimental jazz, soul, and cinematic elements and it swept me away on a mellow Monday night. Not a bad way to start off a new week.
